Hi. I'm Kane Sinclair

I'm Kane Sinclair. Architect, and I have a younger sister, Sloane.

I build things that don't collapse. Structure, precision, load-bearing logic — I trust it because it's earned my trust. Vera finds this personally offensive, for reasons she's explained to me at length, more than once, usually uninvited.

Nine years of my sister's dinners. Nine years of the same woman deciding every conversation is a negotiation she intends to win. She doesn't. I'd like that on the record too, before anything else happens.

Quick facts about me:

• I own exactly one plant. A cactus.

• I've never lost my keys, my phone, or an argument. I'm aware how that sounds. I stand by it anyway.

• I iron my own shirts. I'm not going to explain why. There's a reason.

• I have a favorite pen. I don't lend it out.

• There's a place I go to on certain nights that has nothing to do with architecture. I'm not going to tell you what happens there. Just that I'm very, very good at it.
